Blurred Vision
Blurred vision refers to a loss of sharpness that makes it difficult to see fine detail. It can stem from cataracts, refractive errors, or corneal disease, and often calls for a full evaluation.
Dry Eyes
Dry eye occurs when the eyes don’t produce enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly, causing stinging, burning, or a gritty feeling. Left untreated, it affects both comfort and visual clarity.
Eyelid Issues
Drooping, twitching, or inflamed eyelids affect comfort and sometimes vision itself. Conditions like blepharitis and eyelid malposition are treatable, and cosmetic concerns can be addressed alongside medical ones.
Night Driving Problems
Trouble seeing at night, especially oncoming headlights or street signs, is often linked to cataracts or early lens changes. A comprehensive exam can pinpoint the cause.
Halos
Seeing halos or starbursts around lights, particularly at night, is a common early sign of cataracts. It’s worth an evaluation by an ophthalmologist rather than waiting it out.
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a common refractive error caused by an irregular curve in the cornea or lens, leading to blurred or distorted vision at all distances. An evaluation can determine whether glasses, contacts, or surgical correction fits best.
Distance Vision Problems
If objects far away look blurry while close objects stay clear, nearsightedness (myopia) is the likely cause. It’s correctable with glasses, contacts, or vision correction surgery.
Trouble Reading
Difficulty reading up close, especially if it’s worsened with age, is usually presbyopia, a natural change in the eye’s focusing ability. An eye doctor can walk through options to restore near vision.
